Wonder Connection is a one-of-a-kind program that provides pediatric patients with a connection to the natural world via hands-on natural science activities.

Our nature based activities and lessons are designed to be hands-on, interactive, patient-centered, and based on North Carolina plants and animals.

WonderConnection programming provides patients with joy, increases patients’ science knowledge, and acts as an inspiration for their futures. The natural science activities are patient-centered and focus on empowering patients by giving them the opportunity to make choices and be creative.

Weekly Hands-on Science Classes & One-to-One Visits

Activities encompass a variety of hands-on and creative projects and include individual sessions as well as groups of up to 10 kids/teenagers. Topics include NC Mammal Tracks & Skulls, Microscopes, Film Canister Rockets, and the Human Cardiovascular System.  We serve patients four days each week.

Monthly Outpatient Events for families at the NCBG
Wonder Connection provides fun, free, monthly events at the North Carolina Botanical Garden for outpatient families (including those staying at the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House). The focus of these events is on creating opportunities for family outings in an environment that is safe for pediatric patients that allows family members to bond with one another and with other families while creating positive memories and connecting to nature.

Are you a family member of a pediatric patient?  Want to find out more about programming for your kid/teenager?
