Katie Stoudemire, Program Manager, (pictured above with Ms. Bones) is a North Carolina state-certified science teacher and has more than eight years of experience providing natural science enrichment for hospitalized children. She began the program in 2006 and especially enjoys learning from kids & teenagers, making a mess, and brainstorming new activities. When she’s not at work, she loves being outside with her family.
Andrew Torlage, Program Coordinator, hails from South Africa originally, where he worked as a field guide. Combining this experience with a background in teaching he soon found himself in the world of environmental education, allowing him to pursue his passion of connecting others with nature. Andrew has lived on 3 continents, loves to travel and explore and is always ready for the next adventure.
Julie Yarnell, Program Associate, was first a volunteer for Wonder Connection and is now an employee. She has years of experience working with children and is currently pursuing her child life certification. She loves teaching about turtles and watching sea turtles hatch at the beach with her family. She is often seen wearing a Ms. Frizzle Costume.
Nancy Easterling, Director for Education at the NCBG, has been involved with the NCBG and therapeutic horticulture for more than 28 years, and she provides oversight for the program. We especially enjoy her problem solving and cheerleading skills. When she’s not at the office, she loves to work in her garden.
